Applause Music is David Sheppard.

David commenced playing the piano when he was 4. Now aged 50, he has been playing ever since. Classically trained, David continued with exams finishing 8th Grade AMEB in his final year of High School. As well as piano, David plays all brass instruments and is a highly successful instrumental teacher in both Primary and Secondary schools in the Sydney area. David has been teaching students on instruments for a number of years, passing on the enjoyment and love of music he has gained over the past 40 + years.

David has played a wide variety of repertoire in a large number of diverse venues, from Church services and musicals to Clubs as well as providing music pleasure performing for volunteer groups such as Lions and Rotary Clubs and NSW Blind Society, etc..

David has been involved in many bands during his music career:

• Army Cadet Band, Merrylands High School (1972-1977)
• Member of the Merrylands High School Band tour to New Zealand (1974)
• Holroyd Municipal Band (1978-1980)
• Army Reserve Royal Australian Artillery Band (1980-1998)
• Inuagural Secretary Manager, Leichardt Municipal Band (1988)
• Member Leichardt Municipal Band tour to Italy, sister city visit between Leichardt and Giovinazzi (1989)
• Army Reserve New South Wales Regiment Band (1998-2004)
• Member Australian Volunteers Band tour to the Portland Rose Festival, Oregon, USA (1995)
• New South Wales Ambulance Band (2006-2007)
• Musical director of the "Gunners" Band. This is an 8 -piece ensemble which plays everything form Glenn Miller to the modern popular sounds of the 80's and 90's. This group has been playing together for more than 25 years.

David is involved with ABODA (Australian Band and Orchestra Directors Association):

• He regularly attends ABODA workshops and conferences
• Attended the Jerry Nowak Summer Conducting School (1998, 1999, 2000)
• Assistant on the Jerry Nowak Summer Conducting School (2001-2006)
• Course Manager for Jerry Nowak Summer Conducting School (2007-2008)
• President of NSW ABODA

David has been a tutor on the NSW Department of Education Sydney Region Band Camp for the past 3 years.

David attended the Education Queensland Music Conference in Maryborough (2007).

David was the Music Director for the Hornsby Musical Society's production of "Shout" held in May 2008.

David joined the "Honeymakers" Big Band. This is a 20 piece ensemble that performs in various venues around Sydney.
